O-I came to Breathe looking for a smooth transition between their former premises of close to two decades, to their new home in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. The change in office location presented a new opportunity to recalibrate the culture and operation of O-I, with Breathe participating in staff engagement and consultation throughout the initial design stages.
The brief called for a work environment that was to be inspiring, designed in a way to facilitate knowledge transfer between staff and to maintain a comfortable level of productiveness while encouraging collaboration. The space is split across two floor plates, totalling 2000m2 and housing over 200 staff across the two spaces.
Each floor was designed to have distinct working space as well as individual phone booths, varied meeting room sizes, breakout areas for staff and executive lounges for the leadership team. Breathe were asked to retain much of the existing furniture as well as undertake extensive FF&E selection to tie the spaces together. Breathe were engaged in February 2018, on site April 2018 and delivered the finished outcome in July 2018.
We acknowledge the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which OI Office stands. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters, and culture.
