Nightingale Wurru-wurru, Laak, Yambook and Ngawan are four new communities coming soon to Albion Street, Brunswick, collectively known as Nightingale Wurru wurru biik. The site is conveniently located close to Anstey train station, Sydney Road tram services, Albion Street bus services and has direct access to the Upfield bike path.

We believe community is made in smaller numbers which is why the project has been broken into four unique communities, each with its own distinct identity, secure entrance, material palette and rooftop access. All four buildings come together around an expansive courtyard that acknowledges the 65,000 years of precolonial history, introducing landscape and connection to the environment that grows up, on and through the building.

The building’s materials and form acknowledge Brunswick’s diverse heritage and industrial past, with arches and frames, brick and concrete interchanged in different combinations to respond to the building’s immediate contexts.

Importantly, all four buildings will be carbon neutral in operations.

More info on the Nightingale website.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which Nightingale Wurru-wurru, Laak, Yambook and Ngawan stand. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.
